Project Z

In 2020 the government gave sanction to Project Z.  Incarcerated criminals were allowed into an isolated village for an experiment being run by a private scientist.  The scientist smiled at the young soldier, "This is pertinent to the experiment Masters, you must go into Area Z and see what this is for yourself… but be warned you may die on this mission and that's not hyperbole."  
The young soldier cocked a smile, dropped the lexicon of a soldier and talked to her as he would before this all happened, "Way to be incisive Alex… some sister you are sending your twin brother into who the hell knows what."  Although not expedient he refused the fully automatic rifle his sister offered him and took his own pistols to dual wield.  He just couldn't believe that his own sister had the sheer audacity to use him as part of her own experiment.
As the soldier walked into the village he exhorted himself, trying to talk himself into believing that his sister didn't send him here at night for any particular reason other than to check in on the inmates.  The soldier Tim came across half a body of a man he knelt to the ground to inspect it and the deep red hue of the blood glimmered in the moon light.  The ominous moans of a creature, possibly creatures reached his ears tickling the back of his neck with a cold shiver.  They had an implacable hunger for human flesh.  The moans closed in on him galvanizing Tim into a sprint.  But he stopped short he needed to evince that he could survive… he turned around with a face of complete and utter determination took out his pistols and began to fire.  He vowed that this altercation would be short and sweet.
